Three Climbers Rescued on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park

Three rock climbers were rescued Tuesday afternoon from the wall of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, according to park spokesman Scott Gediman.

"Sarah Land, 24 from Oakhurst, California, Walker Mackey, 25, and Rio Mackey, 23, both from Boulder, Colorado were lowered down the wall of the 7,563 foot granite monolith after spending the night on the wall of El Capitan."

Walker and Rio were not injured and Land sustained moderate injuries.

Park officials say Land called for help Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, after a 200 pound rock struck and injured her.  An Army helicopter took two rangers to the top of El Capitan the next day, where they lowered themselves down and rescued the climbers, officials reported.
