Authorities are investigating an apparent road rage shooting that left a 23-year-old man dead in El Monte Saturday night, officials said.
The shooting was reported near the intersection of Cogswell Road and Klingerman Street, just after 7 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Detectives said the victim, who was a passenger in a truck, began arguing with someone in another vehicle. The argument escalated and a shooter opened fire on the victim in the upper torso and took off.
The victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The suspected vehicle, occupied by at least two men, was described as a dark-colored SUV, possibly a "Dodge," the sheriff's department said.
No further information was immediately available.
