A preliminary 3.1-magnitude earthquake shook the Rowland Heights area Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The temblor hit at 7:15 p.m., the USGS reported.
More than 700 residents in Brea, La Habra and beyond reported feeling the quake.
"That was a very weird earthquake. Fast, hard and short," Josh Saunders said on NBCLA's Facebook page.
Rowland Heights is located below the Puente Hills in the San Gabriel Valley.
