An agent for adult film star Ron Jeremy said Wednesday the actor is "doing quite well" as he recovers at a Southern California hospital from surgery after an aneurysm near his heart.
Jeremy was hospitalized Jan. 29 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after experiencing severe chest pains. The 59-year-old Jeremy underwent an emergency operation to fix the problem, according to agent Mike Esterman.
"Thank you all for the concern and well wishes," Jeremy said in a statement issued by Esterman. "I'm doing very well thanks to modern technology!"
Jeremy is "doing quite well, alert and cracking jokes," Esterman said in an e-mail that included a picture of Jeremy in his hospital bed.
"He's touched and delighted by the outpouring of support from fans and media alike," Esterman wrote in the e-mail.
It is not clear when Jeremy -- No. 1 on adult-film trade publication AVN's list of "The 50 Top Porn Stars of All Time" -- will be able to leave the hospital. He has more than 2,000 adult movie credits and several Hollywood film cameo appearances.
