Authorities are searching for a man and woman Tuesday who kidnapped the assistant manager of a Downey Savings branch from her home at gunpoint, drove her to the bank and then stole "a large amount of money" from the vault.

The attackers robbed the bank at Valley Central Way and Avenue J shortly after 7 a.m., said sheriff's Detective Harold Morrow of the Lancaster Station.

After the heist, they drove the woman back to her home, dropped her off, and then stole her light blue 2008 BMW 320i, license number 6ALK682, Morrow said.

The assailants first accosted the woman at about 6 p.m. Monday at her residence in the 3200 block of West Avenue J-2, Morrow said.

"She was not able to describe the suspects due to the fact they were wearing black masks over their faces," Morrow said.

The duo held her overnight, and then, about 7 a.m., drove her to the bank, where they forced her to open the vault, Morrow said. The robbers then fled with "a large amount of money," Morrow said.

Anyone with information about this robbery was asked to call the Lancaster Sheriff's Station detective office at (661) 948-8466.
