Man Recorded Women With Cellphone in UC Riverside Restrooms

The victims reported three separate incidents.

Police were looking for a man Sunday after he secretly recorded women in bathroom stalls at the University of California, Riverside campus multiple times.

University police were investigating the cellphone recordings after the victims said a man held the phone under the stall.

The first of three incidents occurred on June 3 at 3:30 p.m. at the Olmstead Theater restroom near room 420. The second occurred on June 28 at 3 p.m. at the same restroom. The third surreptitious recording occurred on July 22 at 11:20 a.m. at the restroom located in the humanities and social sciences building.

The victims could only provide a description of what they could see from under the stall. The man was wearing black Lacoste leather slip-on shoes and dark blue jeans. His cellphone was a white Samsung or Microsoft phone with sharp edges and no case.

Police were asking anyone who sees suspicious activity around the women's campus restrooms to call them at (951) 827-5222.

The university also reminded students that counseling was available following the incidents.
