Beverly Hills Schools Close to Recession-Proof

Despite the recession, the Beverly Hills Unified School District still spends over $12,000 a year per pupil, according to Brian David Goldberg, a member of the BHUSD school board. Goldberg says that Beverly Hills Mayor Barry Brucker states that given historic trends, Beverly Hills will be one of the last to go into recession and one of the first to come out.

By comparison, the Associated Press shows the state spends an average of $4,000 to $7,000 per student. In his newsletter, Goldberg looks at the assessed property values in BH. He says based on recent data from the LA County Assessors Office that they "do not believe at this time that Beverly Hills property values will go down; they believe our assessed property value will go up. That they will not venture a guess at this time by what percentage Beverly Hills will increase to."
