72-Year-Old Driver Arrested for DUI After Hitting Teen, Baby

The crash was reported Saturday around 4:15 p.m.

A teenager and a baby were injured and taken to the hospital following an alleged DUI crash in Hawthorne on Saturday, according to the Hawthorne Police Department.

The crash occurred on 133rd Street and Hawthorne Boulevard around 4:20 p.m., police said.

The 15-year-old was pushing the 15-month-old in a stroller inside the crosswalk when they were both struck by an SUV.

The SUV was driven by 72-year-old Donna Marie Higgins. Higgins fled the scene of the crash, but witnesses followed her, police said.

The witnesses used their cars to block Higgins in until police arrived.

Aerial footage from NewsChopper4 showed an overturned baby stroller at the scene.
