Confrontation Between Neighbors Leaves Young Mother Dead

A young mother was found dead at an apartment complex in Victorville Tuesday afternoon after an incident that may have started as a dispute between two neighbors.

Investigators arrived at the complex near Hesperia Road and B Street just after 2 p.m., after reports of an argument.

Family members, who identified the victim as Sofia Adams, gathered at the building, sobbing and hugging each other. Friends told NBC4 that the victim is a 20-year-old woman and the mother of a 3-year-old boy.

The victim's sister Justina Adams said she had been clashing with the suspect since a dispute over a parking spot.

"When she first moved here (the) owner said she would be able to park right there, and then she (the suspect) got mad over that parking spot and after that all this conflict started between them," Adams said

According to neighbors, deputies had been called before after previous incidents involving the suspect. Deputies have not said what led to the victim’s death or disclosed any information about the manner in which she died.

Neighbors said she recently went back to high school to get her diploma, and graduated just a few days ago.

"That was her main goal to graduate high school she finally did it. We were all celebrating that she graduated high school,” one neighbor told NBC4. “And not even a couple of days later she's dead."

Other neighbors also denounced the violence.

"She was just a nice person. Only 20 years old. I'm 32 years old and for this to happen this is stupid," another man said.

Family members of the suspect told NBC4 that she is 25 years old, and described her as a good woman who doesn’t own a gun and would never hurt anyone.

Investigators have not yet disclosed any information about the suspect.
