Dog Named Lucky Reunited With Owner 10 Years After Going Missing

"Look how good he looks, that's amazing," the owner said

A dog named Lucky is back in his owner's arms after wandering away from home a decade ago.

The warm reunion was streamed live on the Ventura County Animal Services' Twitter account on Saturday.

The white Maltese was just a pup when he escaped through an open gate in 2006, his owner said in the video. The shelter believes Lucky was found and kept by the same owner for years without being checked for a microchip.

Lucky was surrendered to the Camarillo shelter, possibly due to his age, and reunited with his rightful owner through the information found in his microchip.

"Look how good he looks, that's amazing," the owner said as he cradled Lucky in his arms.

The owner's son, who is 10, got to meet dad's long-lost pet.

Comments in the video about Lucky being brought in to be euthanized were made in error, according to the shelter's Facebook page.

The shelter said Lucky appears healthy, but needs a bit of dental work.
