Extreme Weather Triggers Power Outages in SoCal Cities

Residents throughout Los Angeles County were left in the dark Wednesday after dangerous weather conditions taxed power supplies and downed power lines in some areas.

Southern California Edison crews restored power to about 300 customers in Norwalk around 2:30 a.m. after a black out hit one neighborhood.

Azusa residents experienced similar power outages Wednesday after thunderstorms knocked over power lines. SCE crews worked overnight to restore power to affected residents.

Long Beach, Pasadena and South Los Angeles also reported isolated power outages on Wednesday.

Forecasters said the recent, extreme heat wave was expected to continue Thursday bringing dangerous temperatures. Residents were concerned the heat wave could tax power grids and force another blackout or power outage.

Expect slight relief from the extreme heat to begin on Friday.
