Family Begs For Justice in Fatal Car-to-Car Shooting

The family of a teen girl gunned down along with her boyfriend in a car-to-car shooting in San Bernardino is begging for anyone with information to come forward.

Investigators are looking at surveillance video that was captured on cameras nearby the shooting Wednesday on 29th Steet, hoping it will help identify the shooter.

"She loved me so much. I loved her so much," said Martha Chavez, the sister of 17-year-old Rosa Chavez. "She was just so loving and caring."

Martha Chavez still hasn't accepted that her sister, who went by Rosie, is gone. Martha had raised her sister since their mother passed away three years ago.

"She never gave us trouble. She was a good girl," said Martha.

Rosie was a senior at Arroyo Valley High School, where Martha said she was a straight-A student who was looking forward to graduating in June and starting college in the fall.

"She had nothing to do with gangs, no drugs, nothing. She doesn't have a history of nothing. She was just an innocent girl,” Martha said. “Just an innocent girl wrong place wrong time."

Rosie and her boyfriend, 19-year-old Ariel Bojorquez were killed in the car-to-car shooting, and their Honda ending up crashing into a shed.

"I heard the shooting,” said a neighbor, who asked to be identified only as Tom. “I jumped up just to see the two cars together here."

Tom said both cars were stopped side-by-side on 29th Street when the shooting happened.

The victim’s car then drove forward, crashing into the shed as the suspects in the white car took off.

"It was traveling at a very high rate of speed," Tom said.

Martha Chavez is hoping the surveillance video will help identify the shooter. She’s also hoping anyone with information will come forward and give the families of Ariel and Rosie some justice.

"We wouldn't have wanted her life to end like this. She had a long way to live."

Anyone who would like to contribute to Rosie’s funeral expenses can visit the GoFundMe here.
