The human remains, including a skull, found in Pacific Palisades over the weekend fit the description of an honor’s student at UCLA who went missing in July, but the coroner’s office will need to confirm the identity through dental records, officials said on Tuesday.

Hikers found a human skull and the skeletal remains of a human torso on Saturday in the 500 block of Los Liones Drive. The location is near where David Goeser’s white Toyota Carolla was found July 25.

Police have notified Goeser’s family members, family and friends said on the Facebook page, Find David Goeser.

“Dear friends, we’ve been notified by LAPD that Saturday a body was found in the Pacific Palisades area that fits David’s description,” the page read. “While the family continues to work with law enforcement to confirm the identity, we ask for your prayers and ongoing support. Your respect for the privacy of the Goeser family during this difficult time is appreciated.”

Goeser, 22, was last seen by his roommates at his home in the 1000 block of Roebling Avenue in West Los Angeles at 10 a.m. July 22, police said.

When family members had not heard from him in over a week they went to his house to check on him. They found his cell phone, identification, and credit cards but no sign of him.

Goeser is an honor’s student at UCLA, who majors in English. Family members said he is under a doctor’s care and in need of regular medication.
