Friends and family are mourning the death of a Koreatown man who was stabbed to death Wednesday morning.
The attack occurred in the 200 block of South Serrano Avenue around 3 a.m. The victim, a man in his 20s, was stabbed by a man who was in a dispute with a woman.
"There was a dispute between two parties, possibly with some other people," said Capt. Julian Melendez.
Officers arrived to find the woman attempting to aid the wounded man. The victim died at a hospital.
Family identified the victim as Luis Lazcano, an LA Trade and Technical college student who was "trying to turn his life around" and hoping to become an artist.
Any connection between Lazcano and the attacker or the woman with whom he was arguing is still unclear, as is a motive for the attack.
No arrests were reported early Wednesday. Details regarding the attacker's description were not immediately available.

Six homicides have been reported within a mile of Wednesday morning's slaying during the last year, according to the Los Angeles Times' Homicide Report database. The attack is the first fatal stabbing in Koreatown since 2012, according to the database.
