A swimmer who went missing in the water off Hermosa Beach today was pulled lifeless from the water and pronounced dead.
The male swimmer was reported missing about 6:40 p.m. near the Second Street lifeguard tower, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
"A body was pulled from the water at Fourth Street," according to a statement from Hermosa Beach police.
"Medical personnel attempted to resuscitate but (the victim) was pronounced dead on scene. Investigators are trying to identify body."
