Four People Hospitalized in MTA Bus Crash

Four people were taken to the hospital after an MTA bus driver lost control and crashed into a tree early Saturday morning in the Westwood area of Los Angeles, police said.

The crash was reported around 2 a.m. on Wilshire Boulevard near Westholme Avenue.

Several of the fifteen people on board suffered minor injuries, police said. The bus driver was also injured and taken to a hospital.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The bus, MTA Line 20, lost control and drove over a curb before hitting a tree, causing extensive front end damage.

The bus driver told police she blacked out before slamming into the tree. Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.

All of the victims injured were passengers on the bus, according to LAPD.

Both directions of Wilshire Boulevard were closed between Manning and Thayer Avenues during the investigation but were reopened around 5 a.m., according to the CHP.
