A man is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon and battery after allegedly attacking several people at a Lake Elsinore business Sunday night, including one person who was cut with a knife while trying to break up the fight, police said.
Johnathan Schmidt, 29, was arrested in connection with the incident, which took place before 11:10 p.m. in the 31000 block of Riverside Drive, according to the Lake Elsinore Police Department.
Police said Schmidt attacked several people at the business and cut a person who tried to intervene. He then fled the area in a Ford Explorer.
Officers who were on patrol said they spotted the SUV and pulled the driver over near Grand Avenue and Bryant Street.
Police said Schmidt, a heavily tattooed resident of Lake Elsinore, was found in possession of a knife and arrested.
The person who was cut suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
