Two Men Sought in Connection With Group Beating in Echo Park

Police were seeking two men who were a part of a group that assaulted a man outside a business in Echo Park early Saturday morning, officials said.

The victim, 29, was walking out of a shopping area near the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Beaudry Avenue around midnight when a group of eight people attacked and beat him, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Police said six people of the group, four men and two women, were arrested and face charges of attempted murder.

Officials responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon around 12:30 a.m. The man, who police say is possibly a transient, went through a brutal beating and suffered severe head trauma. He was quickly transported to a hospital.

Police said they were hoping witnesses would come forward and neighboring businesses that have surveillance cameras will help piece together exactly what happened.

Police believe the crime was random. Investigators said the attackers have possible gang relations.

The victim, who was in critical but stable condition, was not linked to any gangs, LAPD said.
