A man was found fatally shot in Compton Thursday night, sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies received a report of a "gunshot victim" and responded around 10:36 p.m. to the 15600 block of South Washington Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
When deputies arrived, they found the 28-year-old victim lying in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses said the victim saw a U-Haul truck back into the victim's car. The victim confronted the driver of the truck, who then drove off. The victim chased the victim for a short distance before the driver exited the U-Haul truck and shot the victim, according to the news release.
The shooting death was still under investigation.
Authorities did not have any further information at the time.
