Man Dies After Being Struck by 2 Cars, 1 Driver Fled the Scene

A man died Saturday in Harvard Heights after he was struck by two vehicles — one of which fled the scene — while crossing the street.

The hit-and-run was reported at 12:10 a.m. at the intersection of Western Avenue and Cambridge Street where the man was struck while crossing the street, according to Sgt. Dennis Diviak of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Traffic Division, who added that the victim was not using a marked crosswalk.

The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle going south on Western Avenue and then struck a second time by a 2002 silver Toyota that was going northbound on Western Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The first driver fled and the driver of the Toyota remained at the scene. There was no description of the hit-and-run vehicle.

The victim died at the scene, Diviak said.

The LAPD's West Traffic Division asked anyone with any information regarding the accident to call them at 213-473-0234.
