Man Shot to Death While Sitting in Car in Compton

He was gunned down while sitting in a Nissan at East Marcelle Street and South Long Beach Boulevard

A man was shot to death while sitting inside his car in Compton early Wednesday, police said.

He was gunned down while sitting in a Nissan sedan at East Marcelle Street and South Long Beach Boulevard at 2:30 a.m, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.

The name of the man, who was in his late 20s to early 30s, was withheld until officials could notify family members.

No arrests have been made and deputies are on scene investigating the shooting.

Detective Eddie Aguirre, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, said a gunman approached a the driver's side of a parked vehicle and shot the occupant.

"It could be random. It could be targeted, but we don't know at this time," he said.
