Man Sought in San Bernardino Assault, Rape

A man is being sought for assaulting and raping a woman after offering her a lift to a nearby cafe in San Bernardino, sheriff's officials said Friday.

The victim was walking in the area of Foothill Boulevard and Meridian Avenue Thursday when a man driving an older model white pickup truck stopped to talk to her, according to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

He offered to give the 25-year-old woman a ride to the cafe, where she was headed, but changed course once she was in the truck. She reportedly told him she wanted out, but he hit her in the face and body several times as he drove along Riverside Avenue toward the 15 Freeway.

He then drove to a dirt road off the Cajon Pass and raped her before dropping her off at a fast food restaurant in Rialto.

The man is believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, around 5 feet 10 inches tall and has a bald head.
