Mother Whose Son Died at House Party Says Friends Could Have Saved His Life

The mother-of-five also said her son had needed help before he stopped breathing, and believes if he had received emergency medical attention sooner, he may have been saved.

A mother whose 15-year-old son died at a house party has said he might still be alive if his friends had phoned for help when he fell ill.

Ramiro Alba died Sunday morning after heading to a home on Morning Place in Rancho Cucamonga, where teenagers were living unsupervised, with a group of his friends the night before.

He had told his parents he was going to spend the night with a friend.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department detectives are still investigating what killed Alba.

There are several different explanations, and his mother Bricia Contreras has heard rumors attendees were drinking and using drugs.

The mother-of-five said her son had needed help before he stopped breathing, and believes if he had received emergency medical attention sooner, he may have been saved.

"He was in trouble and his friends were all there and nobody called for assistance," Contreras said. "I know he loved his group of friends, and I wish that loyalty had been returned, because if it was maybe my son would be here now."

There are several different version of events, with one youth saying Alba had waved off help after hitting his head several times, and another saying he had passed out and been left for up to 40 minutes.

Contreras is also certain that her son would have made sure he helped any of his friends if the roles had been reversed.

"If it would've been him... and he had seen one of his friends going through the same thing as he was going through I have no doubt in my mind he would've called for help," Contreras said.

She said Alba was a very loving son, who she would still cuddle up to when they watched movies together.

"Him and I, I felt that we had a really close connection. He used to come around and hug me," Contreras said.

Several neighbors said they frequently called police about unsupervised parties at the house.

They also said two teens lived at the house alone as their mother, who was named by neighbors as Emma Adel, is facing embezzlement and fraud charges. The father moved several years ago, and is believed to be living in Egypt.
