Police shot and killed a murder suspect following a pursuit that ended in Valley Village on Thursday afternoon.

The chase ended near the intersection of the 170 Freeway and Burbank Boulevard.

Initial reports indicated there were two people in the vehicle, but police confirmed Thursday night that there was one occupant.

That person was wanted in connection with the fatal shootings of two men near Tujunga Avenue and Vallerio Street (map) shortly after 4 p.m., said Officer Rosario Herrera with LAPD.

The chase started after passersby flagged down police officers and directed them toward the suspect's vehicle, police said.
