Oxnard Teen Found Stuck in Chimney During Suspected Burglary

Firefighters cut down trees and disassembled parts of the chimney to free the teen

A 15-year-old Oxnard resident was booked on charges of commercial burglary after being found stuck in a chimney, according to the Oxnard Police Department.

The teen was found when Oxnard Police Department officers responded to a call in the 1000 block of Kelp Lane at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday.

The Oxnard Fire Department responded to the scene and extricated the youth from the chimney. Firefighters had to cut down trees and disassemble parts of the chimney during the rescue operation.

The youth did not live in the area, according to officers, and after receiving medical treatment, was booked into the Ventura County Juvenile Hall.

An investigation is ongoing, Oxnard Police Department officials said.
