Suspect Shot by Police During Armed Robbery Investigation in Long Beach

The Long Beach Police Department has not released details on whether a threat was made to the officers prior to the officer-involved shooting.

An armed robbery suspect is in critical condition after being shot around 3 p.m. Sunday in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Lemon Avenue in Long Beach.

Officers with the Long Beach Police Department were investigating an armed robbery and ended up shooting one suspect as the others ran and hid in a Long Beach neighborhood, police said.

The department has not released details on whether a threat was made to the officers prior to the officer-involved shooting. However, police said they found a suspect's weapon at the scene.

Investigators blocked off more than a handful of commercial and residential streets to corner the group of suspects.

Witnesses told NBC4 officers began swarming the area and rushing people inside their homes as they conducted their search.
