Teen Struck by 2 Cars While Crossing Street in Santa Ana; Hit-and-Run Driver Sought

One of the two drivers drove off after the crash.

A teenager was struck by two cars while he was crossing the street early Saturday morning, and now police are searching for one driver who drove away after the crash.

"Preliminary information" indicated the teen was crossing an intersection diagonally in the 3500 block of Mac Arthur Boulevard at the driveway of a Home Depot when the crash occurred, Santa Ana Police said in a statement. The teen was walking with one other person when he was struck by a car travelling westbound on Mac Arthur Boulevard.

Moments later he was struck by another vehicle heading the same direction, according to police.

Officers received a report around 12:15 Saturday that a person was "lying in the roadway, bleeding from the head and was not moving," Santa Ana police said in a statement.

The teenager was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries, and remained in critical condition Saturday morning.

Although the driver of the first car stayed after the crash and cooperated with investigators, the second driver drove away in a car described as a dark colored SUV.

Police said the first driver did not show any signs of impairment.
