Teenage Driver Flown to Hospital After Two-Car Wreck

A teenager was airlifted to the hospital after a head-on car crash in Azusa Saturday night, police said.

The 19 year old from Azusa was left in critical condition when his Honda coupe apparently crossed the center line of Highway 39 at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains at about 11:45 p.m., slamming into a Subaru driving northbound, according to a statement from the Azusa Police Department

The driver of the Subaru, 27, was driven to the hospital in an ambulance with minor to moderate injuries, the statement said. The 19 year old was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Los Angeles.

Police do not yet know if alcohol or drugs wer a contributing factor in the collision. There were no passengers in the cars, police said.
