Water Line Break Reported in Van Nuys

The Department of Water and Power has since turned off the line

A water line break occurred Thursday night in the 16400 block of Haynes Street in Van Nuys.

While no structural damage was reported, 14 customers have been left without water.

Flooding from the break was said to have come up as close to the front yards of nearby homes.

It started earlier in the day as a slow leak, one neighbor said, and then at 7 p.m. blew.

Crews from the Los Angeles City Fire Department and Department of Water and Power were sent to the scene at 8 p.m.

DWP has since turned off the 6-inch water pipe, which is now undergoing repairs.

There was no estimated time of completion given for the repairs.
