A suspicious fire damaged a medical marijuana clinic in a two-story commercial building in Westchester on Monday, but no one was hurt, authorities said.

The fire at the Westchester Collective, on the second floor at 8936 Sepulveda Blvd., was reported about 5:40 a.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda. The fire was extinguished in about a half hour.

Although Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to adjacent buildings, which includes: attorney, dental, and insurance offices; the initial blaze started in the backroom of the marijuana dispensary.

"Firefighters were able to keep it on the top floor and are now doing salvage operations on the bottom floor, electronic offices," says Ruda.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, but Ruda says arson may be the cause.

"Firefighters are considering this now an arson investigation," he said. "They say considering the damage, estimated at $25,000 worth, they want to have all their bases covered."
