A person was detained Monday in connection with the stabbing and robbery of a woman by a man who may have followed her home from a gas station in West Los Angeles Sunday night, authorities said.
The Los Angeles Police Departmenr first said they had arrested a man in connection with the violent home invasion who may be responsible for similar crimes in the area, but police later refused to confirm whether anyone was arrested.
Officials would only say someone was detained, and they would not clarify whether the person was still in custody as of 5 p.m.
The victim, likley in her 60s or 70s, was stabbed about 8:30 p.m. inside her home in the 12000 block of West National Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. She was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition.
Details about the attack were scarce late Sunday. Authorities said they are still trying to determine how the attacker entered the victim’s home.
Police said he stole a laptop and may have followed the victim from a nearby 76 gas station in a white pick-up truck.
