Wiggle Waggle Walk: Pasadena Pup Party

Saunter at Brookside Park, alongside your pooch, and help the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA.

If your dog could choose the exact walk of his route, where would he ramble?

By the same shrub he dearly loves to sniff, over and over and over? Would he revisit his special "spots" a few times? Or go by that one house that has the dog that barks at him through the fence? (Surely that other pup is just saying "hi" in dog-ese.)

You might keep to the same walking map when it comes to running your dog outside at home, but when the Wiggle Waggle Walk arrives, as it does each September, you and your pooch have two choices, at least when it comes to the distance you'd like to cover together.

There's a one-mile walk, and a three-miler, too, for those hounds that like to stretch a leg (and, of course, that goes for you, too).

Both courses ramble at Brookside Park near the Rose Bowl, and both share a common purpose: Support the programs and needs of the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, and all of the many animals that call the shelter home, on their way to a forever home, over the course of a year.

Oodles of excited pups and their people will gather at Brookside on Sunday, Sept. 24, but do note: If you don't have a pooch, or your tail-wagger wants to stay at home, you can still participate and raise funds.

The goal in 2017? To raise $300,000, which will aid in providing "...shelter, food, veterinary care and much more to thousands of animals — domestic, exotic, wildlife, and livestock — cared for every year at the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA.

You'll get a t-shirt for participating, and your dog? She'll score a sweet bandanna. Many of the furry participants rock those bandannas on the walk, making for a unified fashion scene that fizzes with a Fido-style sweetness.

Signing up? Donating? Cheering a walker and woofer on? This is the next kind-hearted course you should take.
