Woman Tied Up, Robbed in Sherman Oaks Home

Police were asking residents to be on high alert after home invasion robbers struck in Sherman Oaks, tying up a woman who freed herself and escaped, police said Wednesday.

The robbery was reported at about 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 3900 block of Ventura Canyon Avenue, said Sgt. S. Gottschalk of the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Station.

The woman walked out her front door to make sure her garage was closed when she was confronted by three armed suspects, Gottschalk said. The suspects, armed and wearing ski masks, forced her back into her residence where she was tied up while they robbed her, he said.

The woman managed to free herself and escape to a neighbor's house where she called police, Gottschalk said.

Police searched the area but the suspects were gone, he said.

The suspects took $60,000, jewelry and personal property, police said.

The suspects could not be spotted in surveillance footage, police said.
