Dodgers Defeat Nationals 4-2 as Kershaw Freezes 14

Clayton Kershaw continued his scoreless streak on Saturday, fanning 14 batters over eight innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Washington Nationals 4-2 in the second game of a doubleheader at Nationals Park.

Kershaw (7-6) is back to his old dominant self as the reigning NL MVP allowed no runs on just three hits in eight shutout innings. He lowered his ERA to 2.68 on the year as well.

Yasiel Puig went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, knocking in the first and last runs of the game for the Dodgers.

Justin Turner and Adrian Gonzalez each had three hits and scored a run for the Boys in Blue who won the second game of a three game series, after dropping the first game just minutes before the start of the second game.

The first game of the series which began on Friday night was suspended due to a light malfunction and resumed at 2:00PM EST in Washington D.C. The Nationals hit a game-winning, pinch-hit, two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to win that game.

Doug Fister (3-5) lost for the fifth time, allowing four runs on nine hits in five innings. His ERA rose to 4.30 on the year, his highest in the past three seasons.

Kenley Jansen entered the game for Kershaw in the ninth, and served up a two run-homer to NL leader, Bryce Harper, who hit his 27th bomb of the year.
