Congratulations Pete Carroll, your team is number one!

Of couse, maybe this isn’t the poll you want to lead. With rumors of NCAA investigations and sanctions swirling around a number of schools, the fine folks at BetUS.com decided to offer their memebers the chance to win some money on what school will face NCAA santions next.

And USC is number one at 8-1. Second is Ohio State at 9-1, followed by Florida, Memphis and Ole’ Miss all at 10-1. UCLA is 25th at 20-1.

USC can see the NCAA storm clouds gathering on the horizon. There is the long-running investigation into Reggie Bush and his family living the high life while he was in college. Then there is the OJ Mayo recruitment in basketball and the report coach Tim Floyd gave envelopes of cash ot people associated with Mayo. Floyd really helped the cause there by up and quitting.

Now the NCAA has combined those investigations (which is why BetUS.com has USC as your potential violations leader whether you bet basketball, football or just school overall).

It may say more about the NCAA and the fact its punishments are handed down with all the randomness of a roulette wheel that a gambling site would take this on. It seems like a suckers bet —predicting the NCAA is impossible.

Still, don’t you think that with all the effort Lane Kiffin has put into getting Tennesee a football violation they would make a better bet at 14-1? At least Carroll knows when to keep his mouth shut.
