A Favorite Free Day Returns, in Costume

The free Museums of the Arroyo Day is just ahead.

Five museums -- museums you may have been meaning to visit, they're really really on your calendar, but you never get there -- all for free. With free shuttle service in-between.

With people in costume. Various activities. Photographable buildings and vistas. And a food truck. Always, a food truck. That's Museums of the Arroyo Day, which is hands-down one of the best and brightest days on our city's cultural calendar.

The 2010 date is Sunday, May 16. The places'll on the map include Heritage Square, the Lummis Home, the Gamble House, the Pasadena Museum of History, and the Los Angeles Police Historical Society Museum. All places nestled against or very near the famous Arroyo Seco.

Have you been to all five? In a day? For free?

The theme of the 2010 even is Women of Early Los Angeles. And bet there will be lots of people in costume. Do you need to be in costume? No. But every time we do this day, we always secretly wish we were.
