From Evo to LA Live to 717 Ninth, recent development news seems to point to the same thing—the city loves parking, lots of it. LA's enforced parking minimums may prevent traffic (people circling for spots) and overcrowded street parking, but they impact building (housing is more expensive with seven-levels of underground parking) and design decisions (i.e. 717 Ninth's garage-in-the-air). Should the city start relaxing these minimums or are they a necessary component of LA's car culture?
