We were right to be looking forward to Anzevino and Florence's show, where volume, drape, asymmetry, and architectural elements are always at play. For spring '09, designer William Anzevino and Richard Florence showcased a particularly wearable collection of women's and menswear in a primarily black, white and gray palette with shots of fuchsia and electric blue. Hair was made organic with flowers woven into a nest of teased curls; makeup pink and dewy; feet were often bare, save strips of black and white tape.
For women, asymmetrical tiered empire waist dresses offered featherweight femininity, while blazers with rounded hems and one model sent down the runway in a khaki men's suit and an adorable tie-dye bow tie provided A+F's consistent unisex appeal. For men, pants were worn loose and rolled at the hem; a seemingly simple gray cardigan swooped mid-calf at the back; a basic henley draped below the rib; and a dark wash denim tote (with matching jeans) came mega sized. And though rows of tight ruffles on a tank would not be usual dress for many men, jackets in technical fabrications were highly wearable. Those tie-dyed bow ties came in necklace form for guys, and men and women alike wore glow sticks beneath sheer long tanks.
