At Smashbox: Lauren Conrad Creates Clothes for Herself

So often, you hear designers say they started some collection because they wanted to create clothes they wanted to wear. In the case of Lauren Conrad, this seems to be exactly what she did, creating a feminine, contemporary collection with tempered allure. We can truly envision her wearing virtually every piece, just as we can see her fans running out to dress just like her. What will LC be wearing for spring? The jersey reign lives on in a collection of mid-thing or ankle-grazing dresses in black, white, lemon and putty, plus blouse-y chiffon or gauze tops and roomy tanks/tunics. Prints are limited to polka dots, as well as a dusty gray-blue spring rose print (which we felt missed the mark, skewing a bit old). Structure came in cute high-waisted, pleated mini skirts and short-shorts. Hair was worn long with loose curls (just like LC) with big floral or beaded headbands.

The show itself was a complete madhouse with PR girls click-clacking around like crazy. Not sure who all was there, but there seemed to be a heavy sponsor contingent, many of which appeared really happy to be at a fashion show in general. Whoever they were, they gave LC an enthusiastic standing-O.
