If you dig cultural institutions, both here and around the nation, and you have a Bank of America credit card, ATM or check card, you are in some serious luck. Flash your card at some 70 museums around the country -- probably not all in the same day, unless you have just a ton of frequent flier miles -- and get in free on the first weekend of every month. The Saturday-Sunday combo of February 7-8 is listed as one of weekends (the weekends named on the B of A site run through the beginning of April, fyi), so clear a few hours and get out of the house for a few. Stroke the brain. Look at beautiful things. Forget care and woe.
Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Latin American Art, the Laguna Art Museum and the Autry Center are listed on the SoCal roster, but there are several more that are just a drive away in Palm Springs, the OC and San Diego. And if you're doing a Bay Area getaway, you've got choices there, too.
