Buellton Bash: Spring Grand Tasting

The "longest running Santa Barbara County wine festival" sparkles in its 35th outing.

IF YOU WERE A PERFUMER, or a maker of magical elixirs and potions, you'd probably try a few classic combinations first, like apples and cinnamon, to try and perfect your art. But your ultimate goal, your pie-in-the-sky hope, would likely be this: Bottle what an ideal wine-sipping April Saturday feels like in the hilly happiness that is Santa Barbara County. Could you do it? Could you add in all of the right ingredients, and just a pinch of enchantment, to summon that too-fleeting, oh-so-sparkly experience? If you're not ready to take on the art of magical elixirs just yet, but you're long for that heart-glowful experience, you can find it without any bottling required. Well, there will be bottles, yes, but they'll be holding wine, as over "75 participating Santa Barbara Vintners' members wineries" will be breaking out the new releases in honor of the Festival Grand Tasting. The libation, light-of-spirit lark is part of the four-day...

SANTA BARBARA VINTNERS SPRING WEEKEND, the "longest running Santa Barbara County wine festival," so you know that's saying something, to have such cred in such a wine-rich region. The events are plentiful from April 20 through the 23, but the River Park-based Grand Tasting, on April 22, is the centerpiece. Over two dozen area restaurants and foodie hotspots'll be out with the tum-filling vittles, bands shall be serenading the scene, a silent auction shall be giving bidders a chance to leave with some special release wines, and you'll be trying a host of good sips, sips that are still coming down the proverbial pike. Gotta get on those tickets, pronto, for this tasty affair? And find your nearby accommodations for the night? Here's where the magic begins.
