From the makers of the Submarine car and Hydrofoil car comes a new concept that changes from a one seater to a three seater. Rinspeed’s iChange is the world’s first electric car that has a transforming rear end which creates up to two extra seats. But wait, there’s more: you can control a majority of the cars functions with your iPhone.
Gone are car keys and button filled dashboards. Instead users start the car and control its main functions through their iPhone. Ok the iPhone doesn’t drive the car but it does just about everything else. Check out the full slide show over at our friends at Whipnotic.com.
The iChange features an adaptive streamlined body which changes shape turning a one-seater into a “comfortable car with ample room for three.” The improved aerodynamic properties this creates in combination with the weight savings allow it to travel from 0-62 MPH in about 4 seconds with a top speed of 137 MPH. The car has a range of about 55 miles on a charge and has zero-emissions.
Other features include a “groundbreaking next-generation low power Harman/Kardon infotainment system” and energy-saving route planning computer that displays directions in a “realistic 3D view.”
The iChange will make its world debut at the 79th Geneva Motor Show, March 5th through 15th, 2009.
