Cheech and Chong Back for Benefit

George Lopez & Friends raise funds for Haiti.

That the Nokia Theatre's first hall-of-famer -- that would be George Lopez -- is holding a big benefit there, on Thursday, Feb. 4, makes sense. That it is to raise money for CARE's efforts to help in Haiti is the right thing to do.

And that many performers are turning out to lend talents, comedy, some special words or song brings it all together. Mr. Lopez is the headliner, and sharing the stage with him will be Cedric the Entertainer, Kobe Bryant, Larry David, Magic Johnson, Slash, Ray Romano, Vanessa Hudgens, Don Cheadle, and many others. (An update: Ozzy Osbourne and family will not be at the event.)

We're not pushing it on the "many others" part. The CARE Benefit has already attracted several headliners of the sports and entertainment worlds, and more people seem to be joining in as the date draws closer. If your favorite star is on the list, go. If you like to help out, go. One hundred percent of the net proceeds, says Nokia -- tickets are $75 and $50 -- will go to Haiti. Go.
