Fiesta Broadway, which is often billed as one of the largest Cinco parties on the planet, may have passed, but there are other spots around Southern California to remember the Battle of Puebla, to watch a dance, to raise a margarita and enjoy festivities.
The party at Olvera Street is a multi-day affair, with dance groups and pinatas. We're also fond of the convivial atmosphere, that we can find and purchase our own pinata for taking home, and the delicious horchatas at Las Golondrinas, located near the center of the street. Especially on a warm May day. Creamy, cinnamon-laden perfection in a cup. Cinco de Mayo at Olvera Street and El Pueblo happens May 2 and 3.
But there are to-dos around Southern California, including a Sunday event in Monterey Park. We're liking this round-up the Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau put together; it's quite thorough, and includes a roster of restaurants celebrating the holiday. If you're in Orange County, Santa Ana is hosting a two-day to-do, complete with a carnival and family-themed activities. Viva Cinco!
