HORSE PLAY -- Turf meets surf once again for the 74th Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racing season at the Del Mar Racetrack, where fans flock each summer to wager on their favorite horses.
Running since 1937 when Bing Crosby first crooned greetings to guests -- and famous since Seabiscuit won by a nose against Ligaroti in 1938 -- each season features the nation's top horses, trainers and jockeys. The races run five days weekly, excepting Monday and Tuesday. The week really "begins", though, at 4 O'Clock Fridays, with a free concert following the day's last race.
Tickets are on sale now for opening day, July 20th. For more information, go to dmtc.com.
