If the Monday blahs have got you wishing there was something fun to do tonight, stop by Tavern in Brentwood for a 'larder wine and cheese club night' on the first and third Monday of the month.
The food pairings take place from 7pm to 8:30pm, and while they usually try to incorporate some cheese into the program, this is not strictly a cheese and wine evening. According to co-owner and sommelier Caroline Styne, “It all comes from our desire to introduce the west side to our passion for wine, cheese, charcuterie and other foods. I normally select the wine region, winemaker and varietal that I want to feature and then we build the menu around that. This coming Monday night, we will be featuring the wines of Peay Vineyards, a small-production winery in California's Sonoma Coast. We will be pouring a sauvignon blanc, a pinot noir rosé, a pinot noir and a syrah.”
On the last Monday of the the month, the bar also features a jazz night. “On those nights we have an amazing jazz musician named Lou Forestieri who plays and brings various singers and musicians to perform with him. They are really wonderful performers who create a great vibe in the restaurant. We started this after hiring Forestieri for a private event at Tavern,” says Styne who also co-owns Lucques and AOC, along with business partner and Chef Suzanne Goin.
