Free Popcorn, Hot Dogs, Movies, Prizes

The problem with movies and snacks is that historically they cost money. City Councilman Herb Wesson has eliminated that problem.

Starting Friday, families can catch free movies, complete with snacks as part of "Movies in the Park." This year, the program will show "All Dogs Go To Heaven," "Kung Fu Panda," "Shark Tale" and " Madagascar 2."

"This is a difficult time for many families in our community," Wesson said. "Going to the movies has become very expensive. We want to give families an opportunity to have a nice evening of fun and a chance to get better acquainted with their neighbors.

"There will be free hot dogs and popcorn, and we'll raffle few prizes," Wesson told City News Service. "We want everyone to have a great time."

Last year, more than 3,000 residents attended the screenings.

All of the movie screenings will begin at 7 p.m.:
