Mr. Magoo Creator Dies at Age 92

A spokeswoman for McSweeney's Publishing reports the death of Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Millard Kaufman, who co-created the cartoon character Mr. Magoo.

Kaufman died Saturday of heart failure at 92.

Kaufman was nominated for Oscars for "Take the High Ground!" and "Bad Day at Black Rock."

Sixty years ago, he wrote the screenplay for the short film "Ragtime Bear," which featured the first appearance of Mr. Magoo.
