One of our favorite parlor games during the Academy Awards pre-show is checking out the catch-the-klieg-light sparkle sported by the dolled-up actresses on the red carpet. Neil Lane is a name that Joan and Ryan and the armies of entertainment reporters mention again and again in reference to said sparkle, and for good reason: Hollywood has one big crush on the jewelry designer (and the relationship appears to be mutual).
We're guessing that sparkle quotient among the stars just got a bit twinklier now that Neil Lane has just opened his flagship store right here in SoCal. Celebs like Lisa Rinna, Tori Spelling, Debi Mazar, Bridget Moynahan, Kate Walsh and Carmen Electra were on hand to saunter down the red carpet and toast the bijou impresario at his new La Cienega gem palace.
Unfamiliar with the sort of baubles that carry Mr. Lane's moniker? There are often diamonds -- lots of them -- and the shapes and styles, while not strictly traditional, would not have looked out of place on your grandmother's hand at her engagement party. The designer is also known for creating elegant chandelier earrings and understated, diamond-bedecked necklaces. While his creations say "awards show," "special occasion" or "nuptial celebration," we think a little glittery band, bought just because, might brighten up any loved one's ho-hum day.
It's been a long time since we've been "just becaused" by someone, now that we think of it.
