Not far east of Balenciaga, Alberta Ferretti has opened her first US flagship on Melrose Avenue, a 4,500-square-foot open space, with an new design concept. Worldwide, there are 28 Alberta Ferretti shops and 27 Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti stores, but this one houses the full Ferretti—Alberta Ferretti collection, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, accessories, footwear and Alberta Ferretti Girl. Designed by London's Sybarite Architects, the designer told WWD: "I felt the necessity to modernize the relationship between my fashion and the woman who inspires my collections, a strong and contemporary woman.”
The result is "a freestanding, whitewashed brick structure. It features 85 feet of window frontage and is encased in a double band of black steel, a metal that is dominant inside, too." There's also a display system of magnetic, transparent fiberglass hangers, and full-bust hangers to "allow the clothes to be displayed in their natural form, without rods or racks." The trade describes the overall effect as "one of transparency and lightness meant to embody the aesthetic of Ferretti’s clothes."
And to round out the shopping experience from start to finish, there's valet and self-parking at the rear of the store, as well as a VIP dressing area.
